Job Description

  • The role requires the ability to effectively collaborate with Risk / Legal / Origination / Investments / Finance to secure their buy-in and implement improvements to systems, processes, and technology, as appropriate.

Specific accountabilities assigned to the role of Credit Trader within Market Solutions:

  • Leading with analysts and portfolio managers to scope out investment opportunities and assess our ability to access them in terms of trading costs, market depth and secondary market liquidity. This analysis will be used directly to make decisions to buy or sell securities.
  • Works with our counterparties to deepen and broaden relationships to help position PIC as a good counterparty that is thoughtful, responsive, and fair. This will enhance PIC’s access to investment opportunities.
  • Extracting the various sources of trading information and distilling it for internal stakeholders to inform them of events and news and their relevance to our investments or opportunity set.
  • Effectively collaborates with Portfolio Managers, credit analysts and asset/liability colleagues to contribute to the investment strategy.
  • Takes ownership for their own learning and development in both technical (e.g. data analysis and critical judgement) and non-technical (self-insight and relationship management) skills of Public Credit.
  • Keeps informed of industry trends, market developments, regulatory changes in the public and private sectors, as well as best practices related to Public Credit by attending industry seminars, reading, and sharing relevant published articles.

Requirements

Knowledge

  • Intermediate knowledge of Python or similar coding language.
  • Excellent knowledge of the credit markets and how they trade.
  • A proven understanding of how to achieve best execution.
  • Existing relationships with key sell-side counterparties.
  • Familiar with the impacts of currency hedging and the Matching Adjustment.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Python or similar coding language.

Skills

  • Good working knowledge of MS Access, MS PowerPoint, MS Word, Bloomberg, and trading systems
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to persuade and influence both directly and indirectly.
  • Ability to organize work to meet deadlines.
  • An ability to maintain high standards of accuracy and effectiveness in dynamic environments.

Experience

  • Experience at building counterparty relationships.
  • Experience in developing themselves to high levels of expertise, in particular understanding the finer details of the product and how it trades.
  • Experience of trading credit at a senior level.
  • Experience of delivering analysis that is accurate, well presented, and timely and understands the commercial impact of it.
  • Experience working with trading systems.
  • Experience executing Interest and Foreign exchange swaps strongly preferred.
