The role requires the ability to effectively collaborate with Risk / Legal / Origination / Investments / Finance to secure their buy-in and implement improvements to systems, processes, and technology, as appropriate.

Specific accountabilities assigned to the role of Portfolio Manager within the Public Credit Team:

  • Manages the USD Corporate portfolio and investment strategy.
  • Accountable for sourcing attractive investments, timely risk management of challenging credits and identifying rebalancing opportunities to maximise PIC’s long-term investment performance.
  • Responsible for delivery of the roll-out of PIC’s USD Corporate in-house investment capability. This includes designing, broadening, and enhancing processes that allow us to deliver outstanding returns.
  • Leads discussion amongst the investment team on market and sector themes. Analysis would include the “so-what” for PIC for any proposed theme recommendations.
  • Effectively collaborates with colleagues that match assets to liabilities, analyse the companies and who transact the · investment decisions in the marketplace to ensure decisions made consider all aspects of our insurance balance sheet.
  • Coordinates with our private debt colleagues to ensure efficient sharing of information to have an investment strategy that is coordinated.
  • Elevates talent to develop and enhance both technical (e.g. data analysis and critical judgement) and non-technical (self-insight and relationship management) skills of Public Credit colleagues.
  • Keeps informed of industry trends, market developments, regulatory changes in the public and private sectors, as well as best practices related to Public Credit by attending industry seminars, reading, and sharing relevant published articles.

Requirements

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of the regulatory framework and how it applies to the Company.
  • Strong technical knowledge of the USD Fixed Income Markets
  • Expert knowledge of Bond Investing and how it applies to financial services. Understanding of how it applies to insurance companies specifically would be an advantage.
  • Comprehensive ability to assess relative value, to identify and consider tail risks in order to determine what a suitable investment is for the portfolio.
  • Knowledge of the regulatory framework and how it applies to the Company.

Experience

  • Capable and willing to work with colleagues in other teams to make long term investment strategy recommendations
  • Recognised professional qualification within relevant industry or field (CFA would be an advantage)
  • Proven experience of managing Investment Grade credit portfolios and working with credit analysts
