Locations: Bristol, Leeds, Halifax or Edinburgh
Hours: Full Time
Working Pattern: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in an office site.

This is an exciting 12-month secondment opportunity to join People and Places as the EA to the Culture & Leadership Director. The Culture & Leadership team focus on activating the culture which we aspire to have through our leaders and Culture programmes, bringing together all listening activity into one place and creating a performance culture. 

Job Description

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with the Culture & Leadership Director and their leadership team, you will collaborate to ensure the Director and team are best placed to deliver on the team’s strategic and operational objectives.
  • You’ll play a key role in supporting the preparation, coordination and support of strategic and operational changes aligned to the six pillars and must win initiatives.
  • Using sound judgement and through effective working relationships, you’ll make decisions on behalf of the Culture & Leadership director where appropriate.
  • Identify and lead on opportunities/initiatives to create a positive, engaging team environment and culture.
  • Through your deep understanding of the Director and team’s priorities, you’ll screen, digest and interpret information and communications; responding, rerouting, and prioritising as appropriate.
  • You’ll have the opportunity to lead key programmes, contributing to a wide range of the Culture & Leadership team’s priorities. 
  • Ensuring that the Culture & Leadership Director is prepared for all forums, committees and events, you’ll proactively analyse, review and prepare reports and papers.
  • You’ll have a risk mindset, taking the initiative to investigate and manage emerging issues and risks as they arise.
  • You will manage an annual calendar of events/forums/meetings that will engage the team in a productive manner, including the performance and reward cycles.
  • You’ll work closely with the Director’s PA and other EAs across the function to ensure the People and Places leadership using their time as efficiently as possible.

Process Optimisation: Establish and maintain ongoing continuous improvement dialogue with internal and external partners to ensure optimal process and regular gains in efficiency

Communication & Story-Telling: Ability to present complex data and insight in an accessible manner to different audiences, conveying a clear understanding and considering unique needs of different audiences. You’ll create a culture of ongoing constructive dialogue and have a compelling impact on people at all levels, gaining widespread buy-in, mobilisation and commitment to the overall People and Places agenda.

Interpersonal Skills: Relates openly and comfortably with diverse groups of people. For example, cultivates a culture in which interpersonal and group dynamics inside and outside the organisation are as positive as possible. Demonstrates sensitivity in highly visible situations, representing the organisation with poise and polish.
