Nottingham Trent House (95002), United Kingdom, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire Senior Software Development Engineer - DevTools What you’ll do You’ll work as part of a self-organised DevTools​ engineering team to design and develop software products that enable other teams to deliver at pace, with high quality and secure solutions; Support those products and its internal customers as part of our build-it own-it approach; Deploy robust, scalable, and secure software to production environments; You’ll work to achieve the goals and vision shared by Product Management and your management chain; You’ll focus on a portion of existing or new team software, e.g., significant component, set of features, mid-size application or service; Innovate within your team, initiative area and contribute within your technical domain What we’re looking for Proven experience in technical leadership with a passion for mentoring and nurturing engineers; Demonstrable knowledge of creating architectural designs that meet the business need; Exceptional programming skills in your language of choice, not necessarily ours, and a track record of getting stuff done; Familiarity with modern CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, TeamCity, CircleCI, Artifactory, etc; Experience with tools such as Terraform and Ansible playbook; A thorough understanding of operating systems, particularly Linux-based systems; Ability to communicate, collaborate and engage effectively with technical and non-technical people to promote, support and educate good DevOps practices across Engineering; You’re an advocate for quality and can lead the team leveraging approaches such as Pair Programming, TDD and BDD; What you’ll get to learn (any previous experience would be advantageous) Working with the cloud/AWS and the opportunities that it brings; Solving real world problems and being comfortable working in a complex regulated environment; Working across the enterprise on solutions to meet a vast array of requirements Where and how you'll work This is a permanent position and will be based in our Nottingham offices. We’ve adopted a flexible hybrid working model - one that creates the opportunity to work in your own way, but also provides great spaces for in-person collaboration. Our core in-the-office days are Tuesday to Thursday, but they aren't mandatory - you’ll be led by your team, the type of work you do and of course your preferences.
