Job Description

IT Programme Manager

Permanent

Location: Edinburgh, Peterborough or Witham (typically 2 days in the office per week, 3 from home)

Closing date: 11th of October 2024

Our people are our greatest asset, and we want Aegon to be a place where they can bring their authentic self to work and do all they can to deliver on our strategic promises to our customers.

We help people live their best lives. We help them with the big stuff, for the moments that matter: Pensions, Savings, Investments. At Aegon, we strive in creating a diverse organisation that plays a meaningful role in driving greater equity, inclusion and belonging.

Our IT Programme Managers drive the delivery of strategic IT programmes, working directly with Executive members, Programme Directors and Project Delivery teams to secure the implementation of all IT programme milestones which meet the objectives of the business case, as well as the wider strategic IT objectives of Aegon UK.

Responsibilities of an IT Programme Manager include resolving issues and removing blockers via facilitating, supporting and arbitrating on project and programme issues such as resource contentions, priorities, solutions, delivery approaches, ownership and accountabilities. Our IT Programme Managers develop effective working relationships across both Aegon UK and our 3rd party suppliers.

In this role you will be key to successful delivery of our programmes and projects and act as the single delivery lead across a multi-disciplinary programme team to create and deliver a rolling Development Delivery Schedule, including monthly releases, ad-hoc releases, planned fixes, enhancements and upgrades if in-house and 3rd party technical and business applications such as Advisor Portal and Composer.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • Proven IT programme management experience in a financial services environment, the majority of which should be based on managing application development projects

  • A good understanding of current technology opportunities and challenges

  • Ability to work in a Waterfall or Agile delivery environment

  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects

  • Strong stakeholder management skills

  • Managed third party software providers and supplier software deliveries

It’d also be great – but not essential - if you’ve got:

  • PRINCE2 certification or proven track record in integration or IT Project Management

  • Agile certification

What’s in it for you?

  • A non-contributory pension between 8%-12%

  • A discretionary bonus, depending on personal and company performance

  • 39 days leave per year (including bank holidays, pro-rated for part-time)

We also offer private medical cover, life assurance, critical illness cover, enhanced parental leave and a variety of lifestyle benefits to help our employees live their best lives, including retail discount vouchers, cycle2work scheme, subsidised restaurant and online GP appointments.

We ask everyone to be brave, raise their game, deliver first time, help others, and act in everyone’s best interests. If you recognise yourself in this, we’d love to hear from you.

The legal bits

We’ll need you to confirm you have the right to work in the UK. If we offer you a job and you accept, there are some checks we need to complete before you can start with us. This will include a credit and criminal record check, as well as providing satisfactory references.

Equal Opportunity Employer:

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of their age, disability, race, religion/belief, gender, sexual orientation or gender identity.
