JOB TITLE:  Technology Strategy Execution Lead

SALARY: £73,262 - £86,190

LOCATION: Edinburgh, Bristol or Leeds

HOURS:  Full time  

WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in an office site

This role is a great opportunity to be at the heart of supporting IP&I’s transformation, where you’ll have the opportunity to be part of a brand-new team with a changing purpose and role. You’ll have a chance to shape our CIO Technology strategy, our architecture decisions and emerging technology that will drive customer and colleague improvements.

In this role, you will work closely with the wider IP&I strategy team and Chief Technology Office (CTO) and other senior leadership to shape and implement a Technology strategy that has technology at the heart and help us achieve our Group ambitions to be a Tech lead innovative business. This is a strategic leadership role, ideal for someone passionate about leveraging emerging technologies to transform our business.

As the CIO Technology Strategy & Execution Lead, you will:

  • Strategy Development - Lead the creation and refinement of the CIO Technology strategy, ensuring it aligns with IP&I strategy and Group Technology Strategy and principles, driving digital transformation and ensuring high performance whilst collaborating effectively with partners across the Group.
  • Technology Roadmap - Develop and maintain CIO technology roadmaps across our platforms, identifying critical technology initiatives, innovation opportunities, and emerging trends.             
  • Business Alignment - Partner with business leaders to understand current and future needs, ensuring that technology strategies and solutions support business objectives, scalability, and efficiency.
  • Innovation Leadership - Drive the adoption of new and emerging technologies (e.g. AI, cloud, data analytics, etc) that can unlock new business opportunities and enhance customer experiences.
  • Digital Transformation - Lead the organisation’s digital transformation efforts, focusing on automation, modernisation, and optimisation of technology platforms and processes.
  • Identify potential risks associated with technology decisions and develop mitigation strategies, ensuring that strategic goals are achieved without compromising security or operational integrity.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration - Collaborate with teams across IT, finance, operations, and other business units to integrate technology strategy with broader business planning efforts.

What you’ll need

  • Experience in technology strategy, IT leadership, or a similar role, with a proven track record of developing and executing technology strategies.
  • Strong understanding of emerging technologies and their potential impact on business processes and industry trends.
  • Experience leading digital transformation initiatives, including cloud adoption, automation, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex business needs into actionable technology strategies.
  • Strong stakeholder management is key at a senior level including MD / Exec level.
  • Experience of leading teams ensuring high performance whilst collaborating effectively with partners across the Group, including Audit and other partners
  • Strong Financial Services background
  • Thought leadership and reporting skills
  • Experience of dealing with high levels of ambiguity with an ability to understand and interpret large quantities of data / information and detail at speed; to filter out noise and investigate when necessary to get to the challenges, making succinct recommendations based on data trends
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective reporting on team delivery and performance
  • A background of CIO and IP&I would be advantageous
