About this opportunity
Lloyds Banking Group is on an ambitious path to transform how we Make Britain Prosper. We are still early in our journey to the cloud and are looking for driven individuals to help us to drive the change.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Data & Analytics Strategy Manager to lead and shape a brand-new team - redefining how we create our Credit Card product and pricing strategy. This team will enable transformative growth in Customer Relationships for one of the biggest Credit Card portfolios in the UK.
In this role you will lead the delivery of lightweight Python packages for business users as we seek our strategy to be limited by ideas not tools. This will require a hands-on individual that can deliver tested and version-controlled packages, focused on business delivery, whilst meeting governance expectations.
Day-to-day, you will:
Lead a team of 5 senior Analytics Engineers to deliver innovative tools that replace Excel models with Python tools to enable increased segmentation and speed-of-delivery
Define ways of working in your team - balancing delivery with high-quality code, focused on delivering business benefit
Uplift skills by providing training and support for the tools you build whilst defining a training agenda for analysts in the wider Credit Card team
Balance your time between supporting the team and remaining hands-on
Build and maintain relationships with partners across the organisation to understand business and customer requirements, and translate them into technical solutions
Showcase the value of your data products to both technical and non-technical audiences
Build a network of Data practitioners across Consumer Lending to influence the tools and platforms that Python developers use across the Group
Take responsibility for implementing the teams formal development framework with guidance from senior colleagues, while informally coaching others throughout the organisation in area of expertise and pursuing and investing in opportunities for own personal development.
What you’ll need:
Please keep in mind you do not need to be an expert in all the following areas – if you don’t meet all the criteria, you are still encouraged to apply! A strong will and can-do attitude can help overcome any areas where you might need some further work.
Proven experience of leading a team of Python developers
5-10 years of experience creating package-quality Python tools using key libraries (Conda, Pandas, NumPy, Sklearn)
Specialised in using GitHub within a development team
Experience within a cloud-based environment (ideally Google Cloud Platform)
Desirable:
Prior experience developing tools within Financial Services
Experience with Data Science techniques (e.g. statistical modelling, unsupervised or supervised Machine Learning)
A commercial understanding of interpreting product financials and Profit & Loss data
A broad understanding of the regulations and legal framework impacting the credit card industry

Returner opportunities
Returning to work after time away can be challenging. That’s why we offer Returner opportunities that are designed to assist people returning to work after a career break of 18 months or more and our roles are permanent from the day one. Whether you’ve been away from work due to parenthood, illness, or even travel, we’re looking forward to hearing from you as we continue to grow!
What can you expect?
Coming back into the world of work after a career break can be really daunting – and we therefore know how important flexibility is. We’re very aware that ‘normal’ office hours aren’t always doable, so will happily have the discussion about different working patterns with you.
These roles have been created with your career break in mind, making sure we are there to support you in your transition back to work. You will be brought in on a permanent contract and given meaningful work from day one. Plus, you’ll be paired with a buddy or mentor from your team to help guide you along the way. You’ll also benefit from being part of the wider Returners Community and have the chance to create a personal development plan that works for you.
Who are we looking for?
While banking or professional services experience is desirable, especially for some roles, we care more about the transferable skills you can bring to our business.
Testimonials
I had a good network of colleagues already working for Lloyds Banking Group, who were all very passionate about their roles - so it felt the right choice for me and gave me the courage to apply for a Business Analyst role through the Returners. It was a seamless recruitment experience and I was offered a role in the work I wanted to do.
Olufunke Oladinni, Business Analyst
