Job Description

We have a great opportunity for an individual with Stewardship experience to drive our engagement strategy and establish internal engagement capabilities to strengthen PIC’s direct engagements with investee companies. You will also be required to finalise our Stewardship Code application and take it through the necessary governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the successful delivery of PIC's Engagement Strategy by leveraging diverse channels and being an active participant in our existing collaborative initiatives with external partners, such as UN PRI and the Investor Forum.
  • To finalise the preparation of PIC’s Stewardship Code application, ensuring it meets the FRC reporting criteria and is submitted by the deadline, after undergoing necessary internal governance and reviews.
  • Effectively collaborate with and further enable internal teams such as Responsible Investing, Credit Research and the wider Investments team to enhance direct engagements with investee companies.
  • Ensure effective oversight of managers' engagement activity by having timely meetings to discuss objectives and progress, as well as requesting necessary information from them, ensuring alignment with PIC's strategic objectives and expectations.
  • Communicate PIC’s stewardship activities to internal and external stakeholders, including the Board and Trustees, by preparing clear and concise Management Information (MI), and presenting at various Committees and Forums.
  • Improve processes related to our engagement platform to enhance efficiency, usefulness, and clarity in reporting, ensuring it effectively supports internal teams and adds value.
  • Engage with Trustees and advisors to support Origination in winning new business by effectively handling inquiries and survey requests, ensuring clear communication and information sharing.

Requirements

Knowledge, experience, skills and abilities

Technical

  • Strong background in stewardship practices, governance structures, direct engagement, and the FRC’s Stewardship Code.
  • Experience in stewardship role within an asset owner, asset manager, data provider), ESG advisors / consultants or in NGOs and collaborative engagement initiatives
  • Hands-on experience with assessing ESG risks and integrating ESG factors into the investment process.
  • Commercial judgement in aligning stewardship and engagement activities with PIC’s goals

Personal

  • A collaborative mindset, and strong communication skills to be able to engage with companies and present PIC’s engagement activity to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to organise work to meet deadlines
  • Ability and confidence to persuade and influence both directly and indirectly
