Job Description

Reporting to Forexclear Global Head of Risk and Operations ForexClear, the role will be responsible for the day-to-day run of the OTC foreign exchange clearing business with additional responsibilities for supervising onboarding activity.

The role will have direct and indirect reports globally to ensure coverage of the service during opening hour. The role will lead ForexClear business risk team globally (12) as well as ForexClear onboarding team (2) based in London.
 

The role will involve ensuring the ForexClear service is run in a resilient and timely manner from opening to close. The role will lead a team in charge of the supervision and validation of all processes and activity via a thorough monitoring of the service, this includes all activities related to FX clearing: trade registration, production of Daily/weekly/monthly/Quarterly MI and Risk reporting, regulatory reporting, start of day and intraday P&L explain, validation of market prices, margin runs and margin calls validation, collateral management, monitoring of daily activity including market operations such as fixing and settlement and Option expiry Process, monitoring of risk in the service, member/client reporting, and monitoring of service, members and clients activity.

The role will be responsible for developing an Operational Strategy to support a growing service. This includes improving the tooling to monitor the ForexClear service and ensure cleared FX activity is monitored in real time.

The role will lead the team globally to assist ForexClear members, clients and prospect members with any specialist queries and ensure these are responded to in a timely manner. The role will develop and build strong relationship with client, members and other services at the London Stock Exchange.

The role will work closely and collaboratively with ForexClear Risk managers, Change and tech support teams as well as contributes to enhancement of ForexClear operational risk profile. The role will be client and key stakeholder and partner facing.

The role will work closely with operational risk team to assess resilience of operational process to design and test extreme but plausible scenarios.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads the delivery of daily operations, strategic and operational projects for the Function, SBU or region to drive the Strategic Objectives and ensure the operating unit is running efficiently, optimising company resources, and maximising ROI.
  • Establishes the operating rhythm for the function, SBU or region including the ownership and maintenance of the operating calendar, ensuring awareness and visibility for LT of important events, deadlines and commitments.
  • Develops metrics for capturing, analysing, and reporting effectiveness of the Function and drive process improvement, change initiatives and issue resolution.
  • Drives alignment on deliverables and removal of barriers to execution through regular conversations with documented commitments and outcomes, driving the flow of information.
  • Engages in Group and Function planning and objective setting, supporting Leadership teams follow and meet the requirements of the LSEG annual strategic planning process.
  • Manages a team of direct and indirect reports, using the appropriate resources, networks and tools to ensure delivery against objectives and to provide performance management, technical development, guidance and coaching (where applicable).

Key Skills

  • Strong experience in running FX Operations at a bank, buy side firm, or Clearing house
  • Business insight: Applies knowledge of business practices and approaches to manage the function / division as a viable business entity

  • Measuring effectiveness: Identifies and sets up key measures to track performance, reviewing, analysing and interpreting these to generate insights for decision making.
  • Operational excellence: Identifies opportunities to improve efficiency while providing flawless transactions, services and products, manages monetary assets and other resources to optimise cost effectiveness.
  • Project planning & delivery: Demonstrates the discipline of planning, organising and managing resources and activities to achieve specified outcomes within a clearly defined timeframe and standards
  • Change management: Uses a systematic approach to deal with change, transition or transformation of an organisation's goals, processes or technologies, implementing strategies for effecting behavioural and cultural change, controlling change and helping people to adapt to change.
  • Stakeholder management: Builds trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders to understand their drivers and negotiate positive outcomes.
  • Product knowledge: Extensive knowledge of OTC Foreign Exchange products. This includes product features, how & why they are traded, how they are processed and understanding of the valuation and risk management associated with such products
  • Strategic thinking: Develops a broad, big-picture view of the organisation and its mission to innovate through analysis of issues and trends and how these link to responsibilities, capabilities and potential of the organisation.
  • Communication: Must have excellent communication skills as role will be external facing and requires influencing of senior stakeholders across banks, buyside customers and regulators.
  • Experience in regulatory engagement and interaction with regulators.
