Are you ready to join our Transport Platform Leadership team and help us to shape and deliver the next phase of our transformation?

In pursuit of our mission, we’re on a journey to transform our core technology architecture and the technical capabilities of our colleagues. We’re investing heavily in simplifying and modernising our technology architecture by developing new digital journeys, enabled by microservices, and demonstrating a new data ecosystem. All using modern frameworks and native Cloud capabilities. Whilst embedding DevOps and Agile working practices to enable feature teams to increase autonomy and effectiveness.

As a Lab Engineering Lead, you’ll be accountable for all facets of engineering (across both build and support) for your Lab, working alongside the Lab Product Owner to rub a product and engineering organisation that drives forward different business outcomes.

What will I be doing?

Considering the strategic commitments, resilience challenges, technology risks, currency needs and regulatory expectations that need to be delivered.

  • Partnering with Product & Architecture counterparts to allow teams to operate with focus through effective prioritisation, leaning-in to overcome impediments, by bringing horizon to roadmaps through better understanding of the emerging opportunities with corresponding technology choices identified and to manage down technical debt.

  • Coordinating the engineering execution of this strategy through the feature teams within your Lab, and more widely across the Transport Platform and wider Bank. Proactively identifying engineering challenges and opportunities to release early value or de-risk deliveries.

  • Ensuring that there remains a critical focus upon service and resilience for the applications that are owned by your Lab, considering immediate and future requirements and risks.

  • Developing the leadership team within the Lab, by role modelling Group Values and expectations, and holding them to account for clear individual objectives. To grow the people within your Lab and create a true learning culture where team members can grow and develop.

  • Embedding Agile and DevOps practices and constantly reviewing opportunities to improve the flow of work. Providing the business and technical capabilities that enable and empower feature teams to design, build and release change themselves locally through smaller more frequent releases.
