Capital One is seeking a collaborative and innovative data leader who's passionate about creating and scaling new experiences that dramatically change the way our associates interact with data. This role will be accountable for owning and delivering on our approach to data analysis, management & governance, while also ensuring data is accessible and leveraged effectively to drive insights and competitive advantage. The successful candidate will also be responsible for owning our approach to data risk and regulatory reporting and compliance, while collaborating on our approach to data products and platforms to create efficiencies and a scalable data transformation.
What you’ll do
• Build a compelling vision for data analytics & data management that inspires teams across the UK business
• Leverage synergies between data stewardship, governance and technology to deliver an industry leading data management strategy
• Investigate and invest in solutions and platforms that accelerates Capital One’s data, reporting and analytical capabilities
• Build and mentor a high-performing data team of ~80 people, fostering an innovative and open culture
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies as needed, to ensure our approach to data meet all required standards
• Influence senior stakeholders, Internal customers & our Enterprise partners to deliver a resilient data ecosystem
• Work closely with architects, data engineers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to develop and implement effective analytical strategies that drive measurable value for the organisation
• Nurture a strong data culture across the organisation, developing data literacy standards and executing on a successful democratisation strategy
• Lead and be the voice for change management across our data platforms and products
• Be the champion for data proficiency and literacy across the organisation
• Accountable for critical business processes and day to day management of multiple teams
What you’ll bring
Demonstrable experience as a Data leader in a large, complex organisation that is heavily data led
Ability to develop a vision, and drive the execution of that vision to deliver results through data
Deep understanding of data applications and processes including cataloging, and managing of metadata and lineage.
Experience with data projects using Cloud infrastructure
Technical knowledge required: Cloud Data Products , SQL, Python
Financial services or technology company experience
An understanding of UK regulatory landscapes and consumer lending
Excellent communication skills, and an ability to adapt and communicate compellingly and with authenticity to any audience (including internal and external stakeholders)
A track record of developing a high performing and cross functional team of data professionals
Ability to build strong relationships internally with other leaders and senior management
Where and how you'll work
This is a permanent position based in our Nottingham office.
We have a hybrid working model which gives you flexibility to work from our offices and from home.
We’re big on collaboration and connection, so you’ll be based in our Nottingham or London office 3 days a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
