At Lloyds Banking Group, we have a clear purpose – to help Britain prosper and build deep, enriching relationships with our customers. Through our brands, we have a relationship with just about every household and community in the UK. We underpin the lives of millions of individuals and businesses, and play a key role in helping to build a growing UK economy.
We’re building an inclusive, values-led culture where colleagues feel recognised and rewarded for their contributions. Join us and you’ll have the opportunity to reach your full potential, whatever your role or background.
About the opportunity
The services and propositions we design are integral to our customers’ lives, and this role focuses on their entire experience – at every life stage, across all touchpoints. You’ll lead designs through every stage of the process, from concept through to production. It’s an amazing opportunity to shape the way we engage and build relationships with our customers, supporting them over time and getting them to the right solutions for their evolving needs.
You’ll lead on design for our recently formed Segments & Propositions platform, so we’re looking for someone who can inspire and lead designers and researchers to be creative and ensure customers are at the heart of our thinking. To succeed in this role, we’re looking for someone with excellent leadership skills who thinks critically, builds strong relationships, and will coach and develop a growing Design team.
You and your team will shape and deliver customer experiences working with data analysts, behavioural scientists and other specialist roles. You'll be responsible for strategy formation, concept development, and design delivery, partnering with product owners, business analysts, engineers and senior leaders to see ideas through to implementation.
You’ll make a difference when you;
Take responsibility for shaping and implementing the design strategy, including leading major strategic initiatives. This includes the ability to influence proposition and business teams on a day to day basis.
Work with research teams across the organisation to better understand the financial circumstances of differing customer segments, and consider what their next best actions or decisions might be.
Understand the connected nature of designing end to end customer experiences to help customers navigate our financial ecosystem.
Understand the role of design thinking in the context of our business and engineering priorities, and drive a holistic approach.
Influence senior leaders to ensure customer value is central to decision-making, so that our new propositions are fit for purpose in deepening customer relationships.
Influence our broader product development programme and transformation agenda to enable the overall experience design strategy.
Demonstrate resilience and act as a role model for the advancement of experience design across the business.
Offer leadership to a large team of multi-disciplinary designers to support decision-making, delivery and team culture.
Establish a growth culture and build capabilities, both through the formal development of your team, and across the organisation through mentoring and other informal methods.

Returner opportunities
Returning to work after time away can be challenging. That’s why we offer Returner opportunities that are designed to assist people returning to work after a career break of 18 months or more and our roles are permanent from the day one. Whether you’ve been away from work due to parenthood, illness, or even travel, we’re looking forward to hearing from you as we continue to grow!
What can you expect?
Coming back into the world of work after a career break can be really daunting – and we therefore know how important flexibility is. We’re very aware that ‘normal’ office hours aren’t always doable, so will happily have the discussion about different working patterns with you.
These roles have been created with your career break in mind, making sure we are there to support you in your transition back to work. You will be brought in on a permanent contract and given meaningful work from day one. Plus, you’ll be paired with a buddy or mentor from your team to help guide you along the way. You’ll also benefit from being part of the wider Returners Community and have the chance to create a personal development plan that works for you.
Who are we looking for?
While banking or professional services experience is desirable, especially for some roles, we care more about the transferable skills you can bring to our business.
Testimonials
I had a good network of colleagues already working for Lloyds Banking Group, who were all very passionate about their roles - so it felt the right choice for me and gave me the courage to apply for a Business Analyst role through the Returners. It was a seamless recruitment experience and I was offered a role in the work I wanted to do.
