  • The role’s purpose is to help articulate PIC’s story, opinions, or thought leadership stance within the suite of materials the company produces, including our thought leadership content, annual report, sustainability reports, and website.
  • The role is an integral partner to all of the communication functions, including public affairs, public relations, thought leadership, investor relations, internal communications, and social media, as well as the Brand and Marketing function as part of the wider Corporate Communications team.
  • The role will support the business in the delivery of its strategic objectives by protecting and enhancing PIC’s reputation.
  • The role will cover a wide range of issues – whether technical or for the lay reader – including our approach to new business and the pensions system, investments (including UK infrastructure), sustainability, social value creation, and the purpose of pensions and finance more generally.

Specific accountabilities assigned to the role of Thought Leadership and Content - Senior Manager within the Corporate Affairs team:

  • Responsible for the successful delivery of company publications including the annual reporting suite of documents, ensuring copy meets quality standards: engaging content, clear prose, logical structure, and audience relevant.
  • Responsible for the creation of content that addresses the needs of PIC’s stakeholders
  • Partnering with colleagues in the communications team to ensure appropriate distribution through the company’s channels, including via the media, social media, our investor relations function, and in conjunction with Brand and Marketing.
  • Conducts thorough analysis by utilising subject matter experts – internal or external -as a research resource and then partners with them as appropriate to develop and write relevant copy, supporting the organisation's communications objectives.
  • Instrumental in all stages of Thought Leadership and content development, from idea generation and research to design and production.
  • Effective collaboration with the investment team, new business origination, customer service, sustainability, finance and the wider communications team to provide content and help coordinate speaking slots, seminars, roundtables, media events, and conferences related to thought leadership and research activities.
  • Takes ownership for their own learning and development in both technical (e.g. data analysis and critical judgement) and non-technical (self-insight and relationship management) skills of Corporate Affairs
  • Keeps informed of industry trends, market developments, regulatory changes in the public and private sectors, as well as best practices related to Corporate Affairs by attending industry seminars, reading and sharing relevant published articles.

Requirements

Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of current affairs and how they relate to financial services
  • Advanced knowledge of data analysis, including ability to collect and interpret data from various sources
  • Expert knowledge of how to conduct background research and synthesise information

Skills:

  • Strong organisational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to persuade and influence both directly and indirectly
  • Ability to manage people and other resources effectively
  • Ability to organize work to meet deadlines

  • Good working knowledge of MS Access, MS PowerPoint, MS Word

Experience:

  • Experience in creating and refining technical information
  • Experience of delivering complex ideas in a clear and concise manner
  • Experience working in a corporate or consulting environment, the majority in Financial Services
  • Strong experience of writing, editing and proofreading corporate company publications
