Role profile:

Develop, implement and maintain the Employee Relations strategy for the UK, as a key part of our Global COE.

ROLE SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Global Leader for Employee Relations, this role will be a key member of our Global Employee Relations (ER) COE. Working within a supportive and inclusive People function, you will develop and implement our ER approach for the UK, with the opportunity to also work across our global business, focussing on tailoring our global approach, using progressive ER practice to drive positive workplace relations between LSEG and our colleagues, balancing strategic delivery, risk mitigation and colleague experience to support a sustainable high-performance environment.

You will build ER knowledge across LSEG while providing complex technical ER advice & guidance to our people leaders: ensuring an equitable and consistent colleague experience, aligned with our values.

In partnership with Country and Business People Partners, People Operations and other People COEs, you will use internal and external insights to identify and implement process improvements, driving simplification through inclusive, sustainable and impactful change.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

  • Develop and implement ER strategy, and support the wider COE in the creation of Global policies and processes.
  • Lead complex and sensitive ER cases, advising on all steps of relevant processes, bringing in employment counsel and support from the Global ER COE when required.
  • End-to-end support to global and local projects, policies and processes, bringing a local voice to global project plans to facilitate effective implementation.
  • Ownership of local ER policies and practices, with responsibility for ensuring these remain in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, People Leaders, Unions, and other stakeholders, promoting dialogue and ensuring colleague experience is effectively considered in relevant decision-making processes.
  • Champion Integrity by advising People Leaders on policy in line with current legislation and driving consistent application of policy and procedure, holding teams accountable and maintain appropriate escalations for significant issues.
  • Monitor and analyse ER trends and metrics, identifying areas of improvement and recommending solutions. Remain updated on the latest developments in employment laws and best practices, sharing this knowledge to support compliance and risk mitigation.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Significant previous ER experience, with knowledge of developing ER practice within global organisations preferred, together with a commercially focused, pragmatic approach to resolving business issues.
  • Proven ability to advise, coach and develop People Leaders at all levels.
  • Ability to work on high-pressure topics and manage potential conflicts while maintaining a focus on effective resolution and achievement of business priorities.
  • Clear communication skills, able to engage with a range of collaborators clearly and persuasively. An active listener keen to understand needs and simplify complex messages.
  • A collaborative approach to building partnership throughout LSEG, with the ability to become a trusted member of management teams and the People Function.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to champion and support your own team, and influence the wider organisation.
  • Curiosity and commitment to continuous learning, alongside enthusiasm to inspire others to develop their ER knowledge and capability.
  • You are likely to spend the majority of your time on UK matters, but experience of working globally, particularly for Northern Europe and the Middle East would be an advantage.

WHAT YOU’LL GET IN RETURN:

An opportunity to work in a progressive global ER team, using innovative solutions to improve colleague experience.

We recognize that to attract the best talent, we need to be flexible and we are open to discussing work arrangements with you. We take hybrid approach to workplace, this role is Blended, with an expectation that you will be in the office three days per week.

Our Leadership Behaviours

Our Leadership Behaviours provide a clear description of what success as a leader looks like at LSEG. Setting these standards, hiring against them and consistently role-modelling these behaviours will enable us to achieve our aspirations as well as create a consistently positive experience for our people.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

  • An LSEG leader goes out of their way to attract, develop and engage diverse talent, never afraid to hire people even better than they are. They foster a culture that builds trust across the team to create a sense of belonging, and they empower and inspire teams to create a high performing organisation.
  • An LSEG Leader role-models openness and humility and is proactive in bringing together the right people to use expertise and thinking from across the wider organisation in order to achieve great results.
  • An LSEG Leader holds themselves and others to the highest standards. They build strong external connections to stretch their thinking, are open in sharing valued insight and perspective in a clear and straightforward way and open the gates for question, debate and progress.

WHAT THEY ARE, WHAT THEY ARE NOT

Leadership behaviour:

What it means:

What it is not:

Attract and develop

  • Attracts and engages diverse talent
  • Champions development and grows capability for the future
  • Focuses team on vision, inspires and enables them to achieve it
  • Not just drawing on your regular networks to recruit team members and hiring in your own image.
  • Focusing development on a few individuals rather than the wider team.
  • Holding tight control rather than engaging and enabling the team to take ownership.

Connect to achieve

  • Reaches across the organisation to bring the right expertise and diverse thinking together
  • Leads with trust, openness and humility
  • Influences with insight and respect to deliver the best way forward.
  • Relying solely on existing relationships or ways of operating.
  • Delivering independently without feeling the need to engage more widely.
  • Depending on hierarchy as a means of influencing others.
  • Communicating using one preferred style.

Deliver outstanding execution

  • Aspires for excellence – sets, expects, and drives the highest standards for self and teams
  • Agile and solution-oriented: takes ownership of outcomes
  • Motivates high performing teams to deliver without compromising quality

  • Sticking to what is known, rather than taking a more flexible approach.
  • Waiting for authority to make decisions rather than taking personal accountability.
  • Taking shortcuts to achieve goals, compromising quality.

Bring thought leadership

  • Shows a deep understanding of and ongoing curiosity about customer needs, aspirations and trends
  • Is courageous, continually learns and challenges themselves with different thinking
  • Communicates with credibility to inspire trust
  • Depending solely on internal networks and past experience when developing solutions.
  • Strong preference for tried and tested methods rather than opening up a more progressive debate.
  • Focusing on external developments without applying its use or relevance for LSEG.

Think strategically to create lasting opportunities

  • Spots opportunities to position the organisation for the long-term
  • Applies good judgement and decision-making to pursue ideas that deliver sustainable value
  • Ensures clarity of purpose, direction and priorities
  • Seeing issues in isolation, taking a narrow perspective.
  • Taking sole responsibility for strategy and decision-making rather than seeking wider expertise or input.
  • Generating or following new ideas not linked to commercial or customer outcomes.
