Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a reliable candidate to become a member the Note & Gold operations team who will work on a range of varied and interesting roles. The successful candidate will be responsible for frequent interaction with the general public looking to exchange their old bank notes. This role plays a fundamental part in maintaining high levels of confidence in the UK's currency.

Job Description
As a member of the team, you must be comfortable in delivering a positive and professional experience to our customers at all times, authorising and processing transactions accurately and efficiently in accordance with established policies and procedures. The Bank's counter can serve around 400 customers a day during peak times and the team recently played an integral role in the issuance of the new HMK polymer notes and withdrawal of the old paper series notes.

Role Requirements

The role will include:

  • Serving members of the public at the Bank's Counter who are exchanging Banknotes.
  • Face to face, telephone and email interactions with customers, both internal and external.
  • Building an extensive knowledge of the Bank's withdrawn banknotes and being able to identify counterfeit notes - training will be provided.
  • Being alert and aware of anti-money laundering procedures (training will be provided).
  • High levels of accuracy when inputting transactions into IT systems.
  • Being an excellent team player and leader, capable of working independently and collaboratively with others.
  • You may be asked to take responsibility for a number of ad hoc tasks and be involved in projects across Banking Operations.
  • Being reliable, flexible and working to tight deadlines and Service Level Agreements often under pressure.
  • Being proactive and willing to use your own initiative and make decisions.

Minimum Criteria

  • Previous customer service-related experience
  • Strong organisational, leadership and social skills
  • Confident in the use of most Microsoft office programmes
  • Ability to switch tasks at short notice and able to multi-task

Essential Criteria

  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • The ability to 'hit the ground running' although training will be provided
  • High levels of accuracy

Desirable Criteria

  • T24/SAP experience would be welcomed although training will be provided
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Cashier or customer facing experience

Salary and Benefits Information

The role you are applying for has a pay and development framework in place. This includes a starting salary of £27,900 and is a 12-month fixed-term contract (FTC).

In addition, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package as detailed below:
  • Currently a non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/95th of your annual salary for every year worked. There is the option to increase your pension (to 1/50th) or decrease (to 1/120th) in exchange for salary through our flexible benefits programme each year. The Bank has the discretion to vary standard accrual rates and dial up and dial down rates at any time and to withdraw dial up and dial down options at any time.
  • A discretionary performance award based on a current award pool.

National Security Vetting Process
Employment in this role will be subject to the National Security Vetting clearance process (and typically can take between 6 to 12 weeks post offer) and the passing of additional Bank security checks in accordance with the Bank policy.
