Job Description

ROLE OVERVIEW

An exciting opportunity for passionate and proactive WIBF members to join the Future Leaders Shadow Board (“FLSB”). The FLSB consists of members of the banking and finance community who are early on in their careers and shadow the WIBF Management Board, with the purpose of supporting the Management Committees, offering fresh perspectives and furthering new ideas to empower members of our network to accelerate change.

 As part of your role as a member of the FLSB, you will have the opportunity to join and support Karen Bennett, Head of Awards, Director of Communications and Management Board Member. You will be expected to support the Awards Committee in achieving its strategic objectives and to act as liaison between it and the FLSB.

 We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Awards Lead to join our team and help drive the annual Awards for Achievement programme - the UK financial services’s oldest awards celebrating the achievements of women. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in partnership building, event management, a good understanding of the banking and finance sectors, and a passion for promoting diversity, inclusion and gender equity.

 Members of the FLSB are expected to hold the position for two years in the first instance, with the opportunity to be re-elected for a further one year term thereafter. Membership of WIBF is a prerequisite to being a member of the FLSB.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES

●         Accountable to the Co-Chairs of the FLSB and the Chair of the relevant Management Committee (as applicable).

●         Maintain a close and productive working relationship with the FLSB and the Management Committee.

●         Provide updates at each FLSB meeting on the progress of the Management Committee.

●         Work collaboratively with other members of the FLSB and WIBF committees.

●         Attend WIBF events and represent WIBF to potential and current members, offering general support as and when required, and being active on social media and digital platforms.

●         Assist in delivering wider WIBF objectives.

●         Represent WIBF to members and third parties, acting as an ambassador for WIBF.

●         Responsible for creating and driving communications strategy of the FLSB

●         Responsible for engaging FLSB in the awards process, in particular liaising with the Student Engagement Team to support the individual student and university society awards.

 

KEY SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES

ROLE SPECIFIC

●       Communication Expertise:

○       Strong background in communication

○       Exceptional writing and editing skills for award overviews, event communications and other content to be published across various platforms

○       Proficiency in LinkedIn for the promotion of the awards and linked parties (e.g. event host companies, award sponsors) and to drive engagement

○       Skilled in crafting persuasive messaging for diverse audiences.

 

●       Events Proficiency:

○       Proven experience in event management, including awards ceremonies and industry events

○       Ability to orchestrate seamless events that align with company goals and values

○       Proficient use of technology to support events

○       Collaboration with corporate partners for successful event execution

○       Attention to detail and organisation to ensure flawless event coordination.

○       Proven track record in developing and executing engagement strategies

○       Experience delivering key messaging through events

○       Data-driven mindset to measure KPIs on behalf of sponsors and adjust strategies

○       Creative thinking to innovate award/communication/event approaches.

 FLSB TERM/PARTICIPATION

FLSB members will be members of WIBF and operate in accordance with the WIBF FLSB Terms of Reference. FLSB meetings are held every six weeks and the Strategy Day annually. There is an expectation on FLSB Members to attend all FLSB meetings to fulfil the requirements of the role.

 This is a voluntary role and service on the FLSB is without remuneration except for administrative support, travel and accommodation costs in relation to FLSB member dues (refer to expenses policy for further guidelines). There is an expectation that individual FLSB members will commit sufficient time (approximately 4 hours per week, although this will increase around the time of the awards) to ensure they meet any commitments they have agreed to as part of their agreed role and attend the AGM.
