Working with our Edinburgh based team means you are part of an established Release team that delivers value to our customers through our digital channels.
This is an excellent opportunity for a driven candidate who can provide hands-on engineering skills and expertise to a digital Release team. You will be passionate and experienced in ensuring our route-to-live (RTL) environments are reliable, and deploy code safely through RTL and to customers.
Day to day, you'll be:
Managing Route To Live (RTL) environments: Oversee our RTL environments and deploy code through RTL and into Production, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption to service.
Creating & Delivering Implementation Plans: Develop detailed plans for code deployment and system upgrades, coordinating with various teams to ensure successful execution.
Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Identify and implement improvements to existing processes and systems across RTL environments and production.
Problem Analysis: Analyse problems in RTL environments and production, and find the best technical solution to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
Strategic Alignment: Deliver changes by working with established strategic systems and processes, aligning with organizational goals.

What you’ll need
Technical Expertise: An Engineering background with strong understanding of change delivery to digital products, including Release Engineering, managing RTL environments and CI/CD tooling, version control, and deploying code into Production. Experience with Linux, Bash and Kubernetes will be beneficial.
CI/CD Tooling: Proven experience with modern DevOps and CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins, Spinnaker, UrbanCode Deploy, Harness, Unleash, and ServiceNow will be beneficial.
Cloud Orchestration: Experience in one or more cloud platforms (preferably GCP) and deep understanding of containerisation through Docker and Kubernetes.
Cost & Service Optimisation: Track record in cost and service optimisation, ensuring capacity demands can be met and resource consumption aligns with budget forecasting.
Development and Coaching: Ability to grow your own capabilities and develop the skills of others in the team through training and coaching.
Change Delivery Experience: Proven ability to deliver change to digital channels.
Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical skills to find and deliver the best technical solutions to specified problems across our systems and processes.
Collaboration: the ability to collaborate with fellow SREs, Engineers, Integrators and Service teams to support the definition of roadmaps, technical designs and change delivery.
Forward-Thinking Attitude: identifying new technologies, tools and approaches to help continually improve standards, quality and reliability of change delivery.
