Join our Analytics & AI Platform - the hub for enabling Analytics & AI within the organisation. This role sits within the Business Intelligence as a Service (BIaaS) lab, an enablement function focused on delivering our vision for the future of BI.
The keyword being "Enablement", therefore this role is NOT about developing BI Dashboards, Visualisations / Reports / Analytics, but about BI Platform Engineering which includes the Design, Build, Implementation, Scale-Out and Support of our strategic BI Applications and their related Products, Features, End-to-End Patterns/Blueprints, Best Practices, Ways of Working and Operating Models for success. You must therefore be able to demonstrate experience of working closely with teams like Networking, Security, Architecture, Cloud Services and more; including a solid know-how of Software Engineering Principles and related common challenges, in order to deliver on our vision for the future of our BI Products and Services.
You will work in a Feature Team within the BIaaS lab, together with a Product Owner and other multi-skilled Engineers, with a clear Vision, Key Results and Objectives ranging across the Build, Maturity and Support of:
Connectivity between our BI Applications and various On-premise and Cloud data sources.
Self-Service capabilities to all BI personas.
Conversational Analytics through Natural Language Query interfaces.
A BI Semantic / Knowledge Layer
Simplifying our BI Estate.
About the Team
We are a dynamic and diverse lab, with a reputation of delivery at pace, innovating and challenging the status quo. The lab consists of six Feature Teams spread across three locations, committed to fostering Collaboration, Psychological Safety, Accountability, Healthy Conflict, Commitment, and a deep attention to our Vision and Objectives. Our BI Products aim to unlock the potential of our rich data through innovative Self-Serve solutions - a "BI Marketplace" (think Amazon for BI). We build, scale, maintain, and monitor capabilities within our strategic BI Platforms while evaluating and developing innovative future offerings (think ChatGPT for BI). We are embarking on building a Semantic / Knowledge Layer to enable a single source of truth and to power Conversational BI. We will also be building BI Simplification capabilities (think BI Model/Metadata Accelerators).
What you’ll need
You are highly skilled in Cloud BI Platforms like PowerBI, Looker and Tableau.
You hold a relevant Cloud certification or can demonstrate platform engineering skills related to PowerBI, Fabric, Looker, LookML, GCP, etc.
Preferably, you have hands-on experience with Cloud Curation components for PowerBI and/or Looker (e.g. Terraform, IAM, Harness, K8S, DNS Configuration, TLS certificates, Load balancers, etc.)
You are comfortable engaging in platform design, remediation, or problem-solving discussions with other relevant enablement functions like Architecture, Networking, Security, etc.
You are passionate about the BI domain with an eye for innovation.
You have a strong grasp of Software Development Principles, Route-to-Live for BI Content and BI Platform development.
You have a strong grasp of golden paths for end-to-end BI Data Patterns.
You have an aptitude for problem-solving and use this approach to produce simple and effective solutions.
You can communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences and demonstrate a restless curiosity while actively investigating new approaches.
You balance being Customer-focused and Platform-focused - by meeting the needs of Customers and Product Owners, while focusing on Platform performance, reuse, and minimising technical debt.

Returner opportunities
Returning to work after time away can be challenging. That’s why we offer Returner opportunities that are designed to assist people returning to work after a career break of 18 months or more and our roles are permanent from the day one. Whether you’ve been away from work due to parenthood, illness, or even travel, we’re looking forward to hearing from you as we continue to grow!
What can you expect?
Coming back into the world of work after a career break can be really daunting – and we therefore know how important flexibility is. We’re very aware that ‘normal’ office hours aren’t always doable, so will happily have the discussion about different working patterns with you.
These roles have been created with your career break in mind, making sure we are there to support you in your transition back to work. You will be brought in on a permanent contract and given meaningful work from day one. Plus, you’ll be paired with a buddy or mentor from your team to help guide you along the way. You’ll also benefit from being part of the wider Returners Community and have the chance to create a personal development plan that works for you.
Who are we looking for?
While banking or professional services experience is desirable, especially for some roles, we care more about the transferable skills you can bring to our business.
Testimonials
I had a good network of colleagues already working for Lloyds Banking Group, who were all very passionate about their roles - so it felt the right choice for me and gave me the courage to apply for a Business Analyst role through the Returners. It was a seamless recruitment experience and I was offered a role in the work I wanted to do.
Olufunke Oladinni, Business Analyst
I love being a Project Manager, and I can’t recommend the Lloyds Banking Group Returners enough. It’ll springboard your career, giving you the best opportunity to relaunch yourself and maximise your full potential.
