This is a genuine job from day one, combined with fully funded university study through the BSc (Hons) Digital & Technology Solutions Professional (Cyber Security) Graduate Apprenticeship at Manchester Metropolitan University. You’ll earn a salary, gain industry experience, and graduate with a degree, all with no student debt.

These positions are open to considering those who are new into the workforce, or to individuals seeking a career change – if you can demonstrate an interest in the field, we would love to hear from you!

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Cyber Degree Apprentice, you’ll:

    • Cyber Governance and Assurance
  • Support the group’s threat-led approach to defending against cyber and resilience business risks, through assessing how threats, vulnerabilities, or changes may impact customers, systems, and wider business operations.
  • Translate complex cyber risks and technical findings into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with experienced cyber professionals, analysts and stakeholders across Royal London to ensure a strong cyber security posture across the group.
  • Balance work-based learning with structured off‑the‑job learning and study.

Your Degree Apprenticeship

Alongside your role at Royal London, you’ll study the BSc (Hons) Digital & Technology Solutions Professional (Cyber Security) Graduate Apprenticeship at Manchester Metropolitan University, which combines theory with practical application. The programme is delivered over the course of four years.

You’ll cover areas including:

  • Fundamental Information Technology knowledge (IT).
  • Networking Fundamentals.
  • Cyber Security Fundamentals.
  • Incident Response.
  • Penetration Testing.
  • Security Governance.
  • A final‑year work-based project based on your learning and the strategic goals of the department.

This course is designed to build strong foundations in cyber security while applying learning directly to the workplace.

About you

You’ll ideally have:

  • A genuine interest in cyber security and a desire to build a career in this field.
  • A logical, curious mindset and willingness to learn with a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Good communication skills and the confidence to ask questions.
  • The ability to manage your time between work and study effectively.

Due to apprenticeship funding requirements, applicants must meet the entry requirements for the BSc (Hons) Digital & Technology Solutions Professional (Cyber Security) graduate apprenticeship programme:

  • Have the right of abode and right to work in the UK.

You’ll also need to meet one of the following:

  • Minimum of 104 UCAS points at A-level (grades BCC) or an equivalent (for example, BTEC DMM). Qualifications in Computing-related subjects are desirable, but not essential.
  • Non-standard entry may also be considered for those who do not meet the UCAS requirement but have at least one year's relevant experience.
  • Apprentices aged 18 who do not hold Level 2 or GCSE Maths and English Qualifications will be required to complete Functional Skills alongside the apprenticeship.

What You’ll Get

  • Dedicated time for off the job learning and study.
  • Structured support from People Leaders, mentors and the Apprenticeships & Early Careers team.
  • A nationally recognised degree and a strong platform for a long‑term career in cyber security and resilience.
