QA Engineer

Job Description

Contract type: Permanent
Location: London
Working style: Hybrid 50% home/office based
Closing date: 9th July 2026

We have a new opportunity for an experienced QA Engineer to join the RLAM Quality Assurance team. We’re looking for a technically strong individual with 5+ years’ experience in software testing, who can apply structured, risk-based testing approaches across complex systems and applications. The successful candidate will play an important role in improving quality across RLAM’s technology delivery, bringing strong analytical capability, a delivery-focused mindset and the confidence to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. You will work closely with technical and business teams to ensure change is tested effectively, risks are clearly understood, and solutions are delivered in a stable and reliable manner.

  About the role

  • Test RLAM software products and business applications to confirm they meet agreed requirements, quality standards and production readiness expectations.
  • Support the creation, maintenance and improvement of manual and automated test scripts across functional, regression, integration and end-to-end testing.
  • Work with delivery teams to understand system changes, technical designs and business processes, ensuring appropriate test coverage is in place.
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, product owners and other technology teams to embed reliable, risk-based testing practices throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Create and improve reusable test assets that cover business-critical scenarios and support quality, risk, operational resilience and audit expectations.
  • Review business requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria to ensure they are clear, testable and aligned to expected outcomes.
  • Support the QA Lead by contributing ideas, feedback and practical improvements to strengthen the team’s QA approach, frameworks and UAT support model.

About you

  • A degree or equivalent professional experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Technology, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years’ plus experience in software testing, with strong practical experience of test planning, execution, defect management and automation, working within Agile/Scrum technology delivery teams.

Skills

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret requirements, technical designs and business processes into clear, risk-based test coverage.
  • Practical experience with test automation tools and frameworks, creating and maintaining automated tests, ideally with Playwright using Python.
  • Strong understanding of software testing principles, quality engineering practices, defect management and test design techniques.
  • Comfortable working with technical teams on system integrations, APIs, service behaviour and application workflows.
  • Working knowledge of SQL to query, validate and investigate data where needed to support testing activity.
  • Confident communicating test progress, risks, defects and quality status within Agile/Scrum delivery teams.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines, including how automated testing supports reliable delivery.
  • Experience testing AI-focused deliverables and using AI-enabled tools to augment test design, automation, analysis or overall test delivery.
  • Experience working in financial services or another regulated environment, with an understanding of audit, risk and governance expectations.
