We're Aegon. We're a company of ambitious, positive problem-solvers who get things done. We're a team, not a group of individuals. Collaboration is our life force and we believe it's our duty to leave things better than we find them.

We help people live their best lives. We help them with the big stuff, for the moments that matter: Pensions, Savings, Investments. At Aegon, we strive in creating a diverse organisation that plays a meaningful role in driving greater equity, inclusion and belonging.

The role offers exposure to a broad range of investment activities and stakeholders, with opportunities to build relationships with external fund management groups and gain insight into interactions with financial advisers, distribution partners and consultants. Internally, you will work closely with colleagues across Portfolio Management, Investment Proposition, Distribution, Marketing and Finance, supporting the delivery of innovative and effective investment solutions for our customers.

Key Responsibilities for the role include:

  • Providing detailed research on individual asset classes.

  • Inputting into the portfolio construction process including consideration of portfolio risk.
  • Making recommendations for portfolio changes to improve investor outcomes.
  • Providing detailed quantitative and qualitative fund research of potential and existing fund holdings. This will include both desk research and fund manager meetings.
  • Making recommendations for funds to be used (or removed) in portfolios managed by the Portfolio Management team. Recommendations will be made by written report and by verbal Presentation.
  • Supporting the investment process by running and maintaining meeting packs and data required for team discussions.
  • Providing input into marketing documents, including fund reports, market commentary, press articles and presentation packs.
  • Contributing to the success of the broader Investment Proposition team.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • Proven investment experience, ideally gained within asset management, wealth management or a broader investment environment.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience producing investment analysis across areas such as asset allocation, manager research, portfolio construction or fund selection.
  • Experience using investment research and portfolio analysis tools, such as Bloomberg, Morningstar Direct or similar platforms, to generate insights and support investment decision-making.
  • A broad understanding of financial markets and the key asset classes, with the ability to assess investment opportunities and risks.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex investment concepts clearly and concisely.
  • The ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement and contribute effectively within a collaborative team environment.
  • An understanding of the UK financial services and regulatory landscape, including knowledge of OEICs and wider investment regulations and market developments.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including the use of VBA, dynamic arrays, LET functions, FILTER functions and other modern analytical techniques for data analysis and model development.
  • Proficiency in at least one quantitative programming language, such as R or Python, with the ability to develop, maintain and enhance analytical models, research tools and investment processes.
  • A CFA Level 1 (or equivalent) qualification being advantageous.
