Turn complex data into connected knowledge that drives smarter decisions.
The Role
Financial services firms face significant challenges – and opportunities – in how they manage and extract value from increasingly complex data. Their ability to compete, comply and transform depends on connecting information across data silos and turning it into knowledge that people and machines can meaningfully understand.
Graph and Semantics Engineering are emerging enterprise data technologies that use ontologies, advanced analytics and AI to represent knowledge in expressive and innovative ways. Next-generation AI systems powered by knowledge graphs can help organisations manage complexity, provide greater context and deliver more explainable outcomes.
As a Knowledge Graph & Semantics Consultant, you’ll help our clients understand, design and implement solutions using graph and semantic technologies, advanced data management and analytics. You’ll also explore how approved AI tools, automation and AI-enabled workflows can improve the speed, quality and insight of delivery, while maintaining appropriate human judgement, review and responsible AI guardrails.
You’ll contribute to the continued growth of Capco’s Data & Analytics practice, helping develop our capabilities, talent and thinking around how graph and semantic technologies can create value for financial services organisations.
What You’ll Do
Design and implement knowledge graph, semantic modelling and advanced data solutions that connect structured and unstructured information.
Help clients identify and deliver practical use cases for graph and semantic technologies, advanced analytics and AI.
Use approved AI tools and AI-enabled workflows where appropriate to accelerate research, modelling, analysis and delivery, with human-in-the-loop review and validation.
Build Capco’s graph and semantic capabilities through thought leadership, talent development and contribution to practice growth.
Develop relationships across the evolving graph technology ecosystem and assess emerging technologies, including responsible approaches to AI, automation, guardrails, auditability and escalation.
What We’re Looking For
Strong understanding of knowledge representation and semantic technologies, including OWL, RDF, SWRL, SPARQL, JSON-LD, Turtle and N-Quads.
Experience with semantic modelling and graph/triple-store technologies such as PoolParty, Stardog, TigerGraph, Ontotext GraphDB, Grakn, MarkLogic, Metaphactory or Neo4j.
Ability to combine business and technical understanding to explain, design and create effective knowledge graph models and solutions.
Understanding of graph use cases and user-interface considerations, including the challenges associated with visualising complex graph data.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain graph, semantic and AI-enabled approaches clearly, while applying sound human judgement and responsible technology practices.
Bonus Points For
Knowledge of financial services and its data, regulatory and transformation challenges is seen as beneficial - we do however welcome experience from other industries.
Experience using NLP, machine learning and semantic text mining to support advanced analytics, classification, inference and knowledge extraction, including appropriate use of AI-enabled techniques.
Familiarity with mapping approaches such as R2RML, ETL techniques, data management and governance methodologies.
Programming experience with languages such as Python, Java or JavaScript, alongside Agile delivery frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban or Extreme Programming.
Practical experience applying semantic technologies in industry, academia, Library Science or Information/Knowledge Management, with curiosity about responsible Generative AI and Agentic AI applications where relevant.
