Strategic advisor to the Business Unit Head of Operations and its management team, ensuring priorities are defined and activities to achieve these are implemented.
Role Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities:
Own and deliver the FTSE Russell data strategy and target-state architecture, ensuring alignment with business strategy, regulatory expectations and long-term growth.
Establish and maintain robust data governance, quality, lineage and control frameworks, ensuring compliance with LSEG policies and effective management of data risk.
Provide executive oversight and direction for strategic data platforms, domains and tooling, ensuring adherence to data standards and architectural principles.
Lead enterprise data transformation and analytics programmes, embedding effective change management and driving continuous improvement in data capabilities.
Act as the senior data authority across FTSE Russell, partnering with Business, Technology, Risk, Compliance and Group Functions to deliver aligned outcomes.
Build and lead a high-performing Data Management function, promoting data literacy, accountability and a strong data-driven culture across the organisation.
Champion the adoption of emerging data and records management technologies to enhance efficiency, transparency and data quality.
Qualifications & Experience:
Senior leadership experience in data management within a regulated financial markets or financial services environment.
Proven ability to operate and influence effectively at executive level.
Demonstrated track record of delivering large‑scale data transformation programmes with clear business impact.
Strong experience in managing index and benchmark data or similarly complex, high‑integrity data sets.
Proven capability to establish and lead enterprise Data Management functions, including governance, data quality and data lineage.
Deep expertise in defining and implementing enterprise data strategy and target‑state data architecture.
Strong understanding of data quality, lineage, control and assurance frameworks.
Experience with modern data, analytics and records management platforms, including technologies such as Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, Azure, AWS, SQL‑based platforms and Python.
Excellent business communication skills, with sound knowledge of information security, data classification and secure data handling practices.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
The Head of Data is a pivotal role, tasked with building and leading the team responsible for developing, documenting, assessing, and improving data architecture, data lineage and data quality controls across FTSE Russell.
· Developing and implementing data strategy and architecture that aligns with FTSE Russell’s goals and objectives.
· Implementing an effective data quality framework and overseeing continuous. improvement of the data quality standards in the organisation.
· Ensuring compliance with the relevant LSEG Group policies.
· Establishing and supervising data governance policies and frameworks that ensure compliance with both LSEG and FTSE Russell data requirements and standards.
· Developing and overseeing data management best practices, including data quality, data integration and data security measures.
· Developing and embedding the data change management process.
· Creating data quality metrics and reporting.
· Coordinating data analytics and data transformation programmes.
· Influencing the design and implementation of the strategic target state data platforms, and data domains, to ensure alignment to data standards.
· Fostering an environment of continuous improvement, supporting initiatives that improve the efficiency and quality of data processes, practices, policies and frameworks.
· Promoting and influencing the implementation of new emerging technologies in the Data and Records Management space (e.g. Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, Blockchain, ML).
· Leading the engagement with the relevant Group Functions and programmes.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

As a seasoned Head of Data or equivalent, you will have consistently delivered data transformation programs that drive significant business outcomes.

· Change Leadership: Extensive experience in spearheading change initiatives that align with organizational goals.
· Data Expertise: Proven expertise in managing Index and Benchmark data, with a strong foundation in setting up and leading Data Management teams and processes.
· Strategic Data Architecture: Skilled in defining and implementing comprehensive data architecture strategies and designs.
· Framework Development: Experience in establishing robust data processing and control frameworks.
· Advanced Data Tooling: Proficiency in utilizing advanced data tools such as Microsoft Purview and SharePoint.
· Methodologies and Technologies: Deep understanding of data quality and lineage methodologies, and familiarity with key technologies and standards (e.g., Azure, AWS, Snowflake, Python, C++, Oracle, SQL Server, FPML, FIX).
· Data Modelling and Engineering: Expertise in data modelling and the software engineering lifecycle.
· Communication and Security: Strong business communication skills and adeptness in information security, data classification, and handling.
