Senior Manager – Risk – Analytics & Commercial AI

Job Description

This Group Risk role sits within the Second Line of Defence, where we provide independent oversight of non-financial and strategic risks across Analytics and Commercial AI activities within Data & Analytics and the wider Group. We support broader D&A risk coverage, recognising the cross-cutting impact of Analytics capabilities, models and platforms across multiple businesses and risk domains.

We support the adoption of sophisticated analytics, machine learning, predictive models and Generative AI by bringing clear, independent risk insight across the full business lifecycle. We partner closely with Product, Analytics, Engineering, Legal, Compliance and specialist Risk teams to identify, assess and articulate risk, while enabling informed decision-making and responsible innovation.

Reporting to the Director, Head of Risk – Analytics & Commercial AI, the role requires excellent judgement, business understanding and the ability to apply risk thinking to new technologies, particularly AI. You will engage and influence senior technical and non-technical internal partners, deliver clear and concise risk opinions, and help the business navigate evolving regulation, emerging risks and rapid technological change.

Are you someone who can challenge risk while shaping how Analytics and AI are delivered?

What You'll Be Doing:

We provide oversight across BAU, transformation and AI-led activity, using our understanding of Analytics’ strategy, products, data and operating model to assess risk and control maturity, challenge issues and remediation, and identify emerging risks.

We oversee key business, technology, data and AI initiatives, ensuring risks are clearly identified, managed and escalated. Through targeted reviews and deep-dives, we deliver practical insight that supports investment decisions, product development and wider strategic outcomes, alongside clear reporting for senior leadership and governance forums.

We work closely with Product, Engineering, Legal, Compliance, Privacy and specialist Risk teams to support AI governance and approvals, while shaping AI practices as capabilities evolve. We also track regulatory and market developments to strengthen oversight and support broader D&A risk coverage.

Skills Required:

  • Deep enterprise risk management experience, ideally within financial markets infrastructure, data, analytics, fintech, or regulated financial services.

  • Strong understanding of risk management frameworks, governance, risk assessments, issue management, and control maturity evaluation.

  • Knowledge of AI governance, model risk, cyber risk, third-party risk, privacy, and financial services regulatory expectations.

  • Excellent executive communication skills, with the ability to distil complex risk issues into clear, committee-ready insights and recommendations.

  • Strong partner management and influencing skills across Legal, Compliance, Product, Technology, Data, Privacy, Strategy, and senior leadership.

  • Knowledge of financial instruments, pricing models, and risk analytics, including market, credit, or counterparty risk, would be advantageous.

  • Ability to connect detailed risk analysis to broader strategic, operational, and business outcomes.

  • Experience using external sources, including regulatory publications, corporate disclosures, industry research, and financial media, to inform risk assessments.

  • Excellent judgement and credibility to provide constructive challenge and influence decision-making at senior management level.

  • Adaptable and effective in dynamic, fast-paced, and evolving business environments.
