Team/Role Overview
The Regulatory Controls team is a centralised unit within the Controls and Reg Management organisation and part of the Markets COO organisation. The team oversees regulatory functions with a vision to establish a best-in-class regulatory control framework. This framework prioritises risk reduction, process improvement, and ensures consistency and transparency across all regulatory matters impacting Global Markets Operations. With presence in Mumbai, London, Belfast, New York, New Jersey, Buffalo, and Houston, the team's remit is extensive.
Key responsibilities include defining regulatory reporting strategy, overseeing the implementation of regulatory standards, conducting risk-based Quality Assurance reviews to identify and remediate gaps, continuous monitoring of regulatory control exceptions, and providing Middle Office Regulatory Transaction Oversight. This team plays a critical role in maintaining robust regulatory compliance and operational excellence across multiple jurisdictions.
What you’ll do
You will be an integral part of the Regulatory Governance team, contributing to initiatives designed to ensure compliance with applicable regulations across Markets Operations. Key responsibilities include:
Co-ordinate and run new regulations impact assessments.
Aid adoption of regulatory framework governance across teams in Markets Operations.
Produce management reporting on regulatory issues as needed.
Co-ordinate responses for regulatory exams/audits.
Collate information for governance committees and forums.
Partner with stakeholders to establish robust regulatory controls.
Maintain role assignments in Citi Risk and Controls for regulatory assessments.
Drive standardization of controls across regions and teams.
Analyse risk metrics for trends and lessons learned.
Articulate solutions for digitisation, automation, and low-code processing.
What we’ll need from you
You will have adept communication skills, a strong risk and control mindset, and a self-starting, proactive approach to their work.
BS/BA degree or equivalent work experience.
Strong risk management and control mindset with experience in risk and control or governance roles preferable.
Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to engage diverse stakeholders and articulate complex information clearly and effectively.
A proactive and curious self-starter, eager to take initiative, identify opportunities, and drive continuous improvement within a dynamic environment.
Strong awareness of external and internal best practice perspectives.
Demonstrated ability to succeed in a complex organization by understanding diverse stakeholder goals.
