About this Opportunity
This role exists to commercialise Lloyds Banking Group payments technology beyond the UK, through a number of bespoke, senior level partnerships .
The focus is on originating and leading targeted business development conversations with European banks and other selected financial institutions that may benefit from payments platforms and software capabilities that Lloyds Banking Group owns, has built, or has acquired (including for example Curve)
You will be responsible for shaping, positioning and selling platform as a service and software as a service propositions based on LBG’s wallet capability and payments technology.

This role is not about high volume pipeline generation. Success comes from a small number of well structured, high value engagements, typically led with senior counterparts (CIO, COO, Head of Payments, Head of Platform, Digital or Transformation leads), where LBG’s technology can solve real strategic or operational problems.

What You’ll Do

Targeted European Business Development

Identify, prioritise and pursue bespoke partnership opportunities with:

  • European banks
  • Other regulated financial institutions
  • Selected PSPs or market infrastructure participants
  • Other parties who might be interested in LBG’s technology

Focus on markets and institutions where LBG’s payments technology can deliver clear, differentiated value, rather than generic outsourcing propositions.

Lead end‑to‑end business development from initial senior engagement through to deal structuring, working closely with internal product, technology, legal, risk and commercial teams.

Commercialisation of LBGOwned Payments Technology

Act as the commercial “front door” for payments technology the Group owns, has built, or has acquired, including:

  • Curve Payments Engine and Curve Wallet
  • Payments processing and orchestration platforms
  • Payment proposition front‑end or customer experience layers

Translate complex platform capabilities into clear value propositions for external institutions, focusing on outcomes such as:

  • Speed to market
  • Engagement and capability enhancements for partner banks and their customers

Bespoke Proposition Shaping (Not OfftheShelf Sales)

Work with internal stakeholders to shape propositions on a deal‑by‑deal basis, recognising that:

  • Each counterparty will have different legacy constraints
  • Commercial structures will vary (licensing, SaaS, managed service, hybrid models)
  • Regulatory and operating‑model considerations are central to decision‑making

Ensure propositions are credible, deliverable and aligned to LBG’s risk appetite — not aspirational or generic.

Senior Stakeholder Engagement & TrustBased Selling

Lead conversations with C‑suite and senior decision‑makers, operating as a strategic partner rather than product-led vendor. Build trust by:

  • Demonstrating deep understanding of banking payments, platforms and operating models
  • Being explicit on where LBG technology does and does not fit and why
  • Helping counterparties frame internal investment and transformation decisions including enhancements to their customer propositions

Position LBG as a longterm strategic partner, not a transactional vendor.

What you’ll need

This is not a general enterprise sales role.

We’re looking for someone who is comfortable leading a small number of high‑stakes deals rather than managing a large sales funnel with the following:

  • Proven experience selling or commercialising complex banking or payments platforms
  • Credibility in senior, trust‑based conversations with European banks or other financial institutions
  • Strong understanding of payments technology, operating models and regulatory context

You are likely to have worked in:

  • Payments, transaction banking or platform businesses
  • A bank, fintech, PSP or payments infrastructure provider
  • A role combining commercial ownership with technical and operational fluency
