About This Opportunity
Lloyds Banking Group puts customers at the heart of everything we do and is undergoing one of the UK's largest financial services transformations. Data Management is central to that journey, helping us deliver modern, simplified data capabilities that unlock value, improve decision-making and support better outcomes for our customers.
As a Data Management Manager within the Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) Business Data Office, part of the Client Experience & Data Platform, you'll play a key role in shaping and embedding data management practices across the business. Working closely with business, technology and data teams, you'll help ensure data is governed effectively, aligns with Group standards and regulatory requirements, and is fit for purpose throughout its lifecycle.
Initially, you'll have a particular focus on metadata, improving data governance, controls and risk management while ensuring compliance with Group policies and regulatory requirements. You'll work with teams across CIB and the wider Group to embed consistent data management approaches, strengthen capability and support the delivery of the business's data strategy.
This is an exciting opportunity to influence how data is managed across a complex organisation, working at the intersection of business, technology, risk and regulation while helping shape the future of data management, including the adoption of AI-enabled solutions.
What You'll Be Doing
Lead the delivery of metadata-related initiatives to meet regulatory obligations, including task management of a small team of colleagues based in India.
Investigate data-related issues, identifying root causes, dependencies, risks and barriers to resolution.
Build strong relationships across CIB, Group functions and technology teams to embed data standards, controls and consistent ways of working.
Work with business and technology teams to ensure critical data assets, controls and data quality requirements are understood, implemented, monitored and improved where required.
Produce and tailor communications, guidance, standards and supporting materials for a wide range of business and technology audiences, including senior leaders.
Support the implementation of data management practices within change initiatives to optimise data value and strengthen risk management.
Contribute to the development of data management strategy, governance and control effectiveness across CIB.
Support and engage with the Group's data practitioner community to build data culture and capability.
Contribute to committee and board-level reporting, management information and governance materials.
Champion improvements that strengthen data management capabilities, deliver business value and support innovation, including AI-enabled solutions.
What You’ll Need
Proven experience in data management, data governance, metadata management or a related discipline, typically gained over 5+ years within a Business Data Office, Centre of Excellence or similar environment, including leading workstreams, initiatives or task management activities.
Demonstrable knowledge of key data management areas, including metadata, data lineage, data quality, master/reference data and data products.
Experience developing and delivering cross-functional data initiatives, building alignment across teams and delivering successful outcomes.
The ability to analyse and interpret data, translating complex concepts into clear insights and recommendations for business teams.
Experience implementing and monitoring data controls, supporting compliance requirements, responding to data incidents and resolving data integrity issues.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across business, technology and control functions, including senior leadership.
Working knowledge of Collibra, Ataccama, Dataplex, CI/CD practices and Google Cloud would be advantageous.
We know that great talent comes from many backgrounds. Whilst this job advert may reference specific years of experience, we recognise that skills are developed in many ways, so if you have relevant, transferable experience, we encourage you to apply.

Returner opportunities
Returning to work after time away can be challenging. That’s why we offer Returner opportunities that are designed to assist people returning to work after a career break of 18 months or more and our roles are permanent from the day one. Whether you’ve been away from work due to parenthood, illness, or even travel, we’re looking forward to hearing from you as we continue to grow!
What can you expect?
Coming back into the world of work after a career break can be really daunting – and we therefore know how important flexibility is. We’re very aware that ‘normal’ office hours aren’t always doable, so will happily have the discussion about different working patterns with you.
These roles have been created with your career break in mind, making sure we are there to support you in your transition back to work. You will be brought in on a permanent contract and given meaningful work from day one. Plus, you’ll be paired with a buddy or mentor from your team to help guide you along the way. You’ll also benefit from being part of the wider Returners Community and have the chance to create a personal development plan that works for you.
Who are we looking for?
While banking or professional services experience is desirable, especially for some roles, we care more about the transferable skills you can bring to our business.
Testimonials
I had a good network of colleagues already working for Lloyds Banking Group, who were all very passionate about their roles - so it felt the right choice for me and gave me the courage to apply for a Business Analyst role through the Returners. It was a seamless recruitment experience and I was offered a role in the work I wanted to do.

I love being a Project Manager, and I can’t recommend the Lloyds Banking Group Returners enough. It’ll springboard your career, giving you the best opportunity to relaunch yourself and maximise your full potential.
