SALARY: £42,744 - £43,000
LOCATION(S): Edinburgh or Leeds
HOURS: Full-time, 35 hours per week
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of your time, at our Edinburgh or Leeds office sites. At Lloyds Banking Group, we're continuing our digital transformation and investing heavily in technology, data and security. Within our Chief Security Office, the Insider Risk Management team plays a critical role in helping keep our customers, colleagues and assets safe!
We're a collaborative team of insider risk analysts and software engineers who work together to improve how we identify, investigate and manage insider risk. We combine software engineering, analytics and behavioural insights to deliver the Group's Insider Strategy, support data-led decision making and contribute to industry-wide conversations on insider risk!
We're looking for a Software Engineer with strong front-end development experience to help us develop innovative tools and capabilities.
This is primarily a front-end engineering role, with approximately 60% of your time focused on designing, building and enhancing user-facing applications. The remaining time will be spent supporting back-end services, APIs and integrations that underpin these solutions.
As a Software Engineer, you'll:
Build and enhance user-facing applications that improve analyst workflows, case management and risk investigations.
Design and develop detection capabilities and software solutions that help identify potential insider risk events.
Explore emerging technologies and third-party solutions, bringing new ideas and challenging existing approaches.
Improve processes through automation, analytics and modern engineering practices.
Collaborate across the team to share knowledge, develop engineering capability and contribute to innovation initiatives, hackathons and technical communities.

What you'll need
We're looking for software engineers who can demonstrate experience across several of the following areas:
Software Engineering: Developing high-quality, reusable and maintainable software solutions using modern programming languages, frameworks and engineering practices.
Technical Delivery: Delivering reliable technology solutions that meet user needs and support business outcomes.
Problem Solving: Analysing complex challenges, identifying root causes and creating practical, scalable solutions.
Collaboration: Working effectively with engineers, analysts and stakeholders to achieve shared objectives.
Experience developing web applications using technologies such as JavaScript, TypeScript, React or Java.
Experience integrating APIs into modern, data-driven applications.
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), AWS or Azure.
Interest in data analysis and using data to identify patterns, anomalies and opportunities.

Infrastructure as Code practices.
Git source code management.
Complex SQL query development.
