Job Description

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
Works with: Operations team; Marketing and Communications team; regional and network leads; Network co-chairs; website and technology partners
Commitment: Approximately 4–6 hours per week for an initial six-month period, with flexibility around key project stages
Location: Remote, with occasional online meetings during UK working hours
Type: Voluntary special project role

ROLE PURPOSE
We are looking for an organised and collaborative volunteer to lead the next stage of WIBF’s BuddyBoss project.

Working closely with the COO, Operations and Marketing, you will turn the initial project discussions into a clear and practical delivery plan. This will include confirming the scope of the platform, recommending an approach to testing and rollout, coordinating the people involved and helping WIBF prepare for a successful launch.

This is a project leadership and coordination role rather than a software-development position. You do not need to be a BuddyBoss developer, but you should be comfortable working with digital platforms, technical suppliers and colleagues with different areas of expertise.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
•    Review the work completed to date and confirm the intended purpose, scope and priorities for BuddyBoss.
•    Develop a project plan covering the pilot, implementation, testing, launch and initial review.
•    Help identify the communities, networks or regions best suited to an initial pilot.
•    Coordinate activity across Operations, Marketing, network leads and external technical support.
•    Define the member journey, including how eligible members access the platform and join relevant groups.
•    Work with Operations to identify the membership data needed to manage access effectively.
•    Establish clear responsibilities for group administration, moderation and ongoing oversight.
•    Develop guidance and simple processes for network co-chairs and other volunteers using the platform.
•    Work with Marketing to plan member communications, launch activity and guidance for users.
•    Identify project risks, dependencies and decisions requiring approval from the COO.
•    Gather feedback during the pilot and recommend whether and how WIBF should expand the platform.
•    Provide concise progress updates and maintain the core project documentation.

INITIAL PROJECT OUTCOMES
•    The successful volunteer will help WIBF deliver:
•    A confirmed scope and recommended rollout approach for BuddyBoss.
•    A practical implementation plan with responsibilities, timescales and dependencies.
•    A proposed pilot involving suitable WIBF communities.
•    Clear eligibility, access and moderation guidelines.
•    Defined data and technical requirements.
•    A communications and member-engagement plan.
•    An evaluation of the pilot with recommendations for the next phase.

You may have experience in digital projects, online communities, membership organisations, technology implementation or operational change. We are particularly interested in people who can bring structure to a project, involve the right stakeholders and move activity from discussion into delivery.

YOU WILL BE:
•    An experienced project coordinator or project manager.
•    Highly organised and able to manage actions, dependencies and deadlines.
•    Comfortable working across operational, marketing and technical teams.
•    Confident facilitating discussions and turning different views into clear recommendations.
•    Able to communicate technical considerations in straightforward language.
•    Familiar with online communities, membership platforms or digital user journeys.
•    Thoughtful about data protection, access controls and the safe moderation of online spaces.
•    Collaborative, pragmatic and comfortable working independently within an agreed remit.
•    Experience of BuddyBoss, WordPress or another online community platform would be helpful but is not essential.

WHAT YOU’LL GAIN
This role offers the opportunity to lead a defined digital project with organisation-wide relevance and help shape how WIBF members connect with each other online.

You will work directly with WIBF’s COO and collaborate with colleagues and volunteers across Operations, Marketing and the wider organisation. You will also gain experience of digital community development within a national membership organisation supporting women in financial services.

COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION
WIBF is committed to building a diverse and inclusive organisation. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and particularly encourage applications from those whose perspectives and experiences are under-represented in financial services. We select people on the basis of their skills, experience and potential to contribute, and we are happy to discuss reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process.

HOW TO APPLY
Please email your CV and a short cover letter (max one A4 page) to our recruitment team at [email protected].

We encourage you to apply as soon as possible, as applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and interviews will be arranged as suitable candidates are identified.
