Job Description

About WIBF

Women in Banking and Finance is entering one of the most exciting periods in its 45-year history, and our newly established People Team sits at the heart of WIBF’s continued growth and development. We’re focused on creating an exceptional people experience for everyone who contributes to our organisation — our volunteers, contractors and employees — while building the people practices, culture and capability that will enable WIBF to thrive.

We're looking for a committed and enthusiastic HR Generalist to join our team on a voluntary basis. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting the volunteer lifecycle, shaping people processes, and fostering a positive environment for people across our organisation.

Key Responsibilities

You'll have impact across a wide range of activities, including:

  • Volunteer Lifecycle Management: Support across all stages of the volunteer
journey, including recruitment, onboarding, engagement, development, and
    career development.

  • Goal setting process: Design, implement, and manage a new goal setting
process tailored for volunteers, ensuring a golden thread between WIBF’s
    strategy and individual contribution.

  • Career Frameworks: support with the establishment of clear career pathways
for volunteers, ensuring roles and responsibilities are clearly defined, and
development pathways are promoted to volunteers.

  • Engagement survey: support the delivery and analysis of regular engagement
surveys, ensuring feedback in integrated into the People Plan and WIBF
    strategy.

  • Policy and Procedure Review: Regularly review, update, and communicate
HR policies and procedures, ensuring they are clear, inclusive, and reflect
best practice within the voluntary sector.

  • HR Guidance and Support: Provide guidance to volunteer managers and
volunteers on HR-related matters, promoting a culture of respect, inclusion,
    and well-being.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance the volunteer
experience, working collaboratively with stakeholders to implement
    improvements.

Skills and experience

We’re looking for someone with these impactful capabilities:

  • Experience working within a HR role, ideally with exposure to the voluntary or non-profit sector.
  • Understanding of, and commitment to, diversity, equity, and inclusion, particularly in the context of supporting women in the workplace.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Discretion and respect for confidentiality.

A CIPD qualification (or working towards one) is desirable but not essential.

Commitment

This is a voluntary position. Time commitment is flexible but we expect approximately 4 to 6 hours per week, with some variation depending on organisational needs and events.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to make a real difference in supporting women’s careers in banking and finance.
  • Experience in shaping and delivering HR processes at an organisational level.
  • A chance to expand your professional network within the financial services and non-profit sectors.
