THE OPPORTUNITY
The Director of Commercial Growth & Propositions turns WIBF’s strategy and assets into coherent propositions that individuals, corporate members, funders and commercial partners value. The role owns commercial growth, customer journeys and revenue diversification, while protecting WIBF’s purpose and member value.

The role connects customer insight, proposition development, pricing, partnerships and routes to market. It brings commercial discipline to WIBF’s decisions and ensures that new income is sustainable, repeatable and aligned with the strategic portfolio.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
Develop and deliver WIBF’s commercial growth and revenue-diversification plan, with clear priorities, targets, assumptions and measures.

• Create coherent corporate and individual propositions and customer journeys, connecting WIBF’s programmes, insight, networks and strategic assets.
• Lead customer discovery, market testing and proposition refinement, using evidence of demand and willingness to pay.
• Own pricing, packaging, routes to market and commercial performance for WIBF propositions and intellectual property.
• Lead corporate membership acquisition, retention and growth, ensuring a clear return on investment and a strong end-to-end member experience.
• Develop commercial partnerships, sponsorship, referral and licensing income, with appropriate commercial terms and performance management.
• Build grant and philanthropic income with specialist support, ensuring opportunities align with the strategy and can be delivered sustainably.
• Lead and develop the customer, proposition and income teams, creating accountability while making effective use of volunteer and paid capacity.

DECISION RIGHTS AND BOUNDARIES
Owns
• Commercial growth and revenue-diversification plan
• Customer and member propositions and journeys
• Pricing, packaging, routes to market and commercial targets
• Corporate, individual and commercial-partnership performance
• Commercialisation of WIBF intellectual property and strategic assets

Does not own
• Overall strategy or selection of the strategic portfolio – owned by the Director of Strategy & Portfolio
• Detailed programme or project management
• Operational systems, processes, technology or capacity deployment – owned by the COO
• Content quality and intended impact within each pillar – owned by the relevant lead
• Non-revenue collaborations whose primary purpose is influence or strategic reach – owned by the Director of Strategy & Portfolio

HOW THE ROLE WORKS WITH THE DIRECTOR OF STRATEGY AND PORTFOLIO

The Director of Commercial Growth & Propositions and the Director of Strategy & Portfolio are peers on the Executive Committee and both report to the CEO. The Director of Strategy & Portfolio determines how an opportunity fits the strategy and portfolio; the Director of Commercial Growth & Propositions determines the customer proposition, funding or revenue model, pricing and route to market. Neither role line-manages the other. They will maintain a shared view of the portfolio and commercial pipeline, test major decisions together and ensure each asset has one named accountable owner.

Where a non-revenue collaborative partnership develops commercial potential, both Directors will review the opportunity together. Ownership will transfer to the Director of Commercial Growth & Propositions when revenue generation becomes a material objective, with the Director of Strategy & Portfolio retaining input on strategic fit and relationship value.

PRIORITIES FOR THE FIRST SIX MONTHS
• Establish the commercial baseline, including revenue mix, customer segments, proposition performance, pipeline and retention risks.
• Define the priority corporate and individual propositions and the most valuable improvements to their customer journeys.
• Create a sequenced revenue-diversification plan covering commercial partnerships, sponsorship, intellectual property, grants and philanthropy.
• Agree working practices, targets and decision rights with the Director of Strategy & Portfolio, the COO, pillar leads and the teams reporting into the role.

Measures of success
• Sustainable growth and a progressively more diversified revenue mix.
• Stronger corporate retention, acquisition, activation and demonstrated return on investment.
• Improved individual membership acquisition, engagement and retention.
• A qualified commercial pipeline with clear conversion, income and margin expectations.
• Priority propositions and assets launched with evidence of demand, customer value and viable economics.

EXPERIENCE AND CAPABILITIES
Senior commercial, proposition or growth leadership; strong customer and market orientation; experience of pricing, revenue models, sales and partnerships; ability to turn strategy into measurable delivery; influential, collaborative leadership across matrix and volunteer environments; and a strong commitment to WIBF’s mission.

WHAT YOU’LL GAIN
This role offers the opportunity to bring your commercial expertise to a cause you care about, while broadening your leadership experience and professional network. As a member of WIBF’s Executive Board, you’ll work alongside senior colleagues to shape the organisation’s future and help more women access the support and opportunities they need to progress.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

•    Gain executive board experience, contributing to organisation-wide decisions and working directly with the CEO.
•    Extend your network across financial services, building relationships with corporate partners, senior leaders and fellow volunteers.
•    Apply and develop your expertise across proposition development, partnerships and income generation within a purpose-led social enterprise.
•    Lead a team with varied experience, strengthening your ability to motivate, develop and influence others.
•    Build a visible record of impact, helping create sustainable income that supports women’s career development and progression.
•    Learn from people beyond your own organisation and bring fresh perspectives back to your professional work.

This is a chance to take on a substantial leadership challenge, contribute your ideas and see the difference your work makes.

TIME COMMITMENT
This is a significant voluntary leadership role requiring consistent engagement of approximately 4–6 hours per week, with flexibility around key delivery periods.
